Uric acid crystals

They have diamond rhombic or rosette shape. They’re typically orange-brown or yellow in color.
These are soluble in NaoH but not in HCL.
Chronic nephrities are the main pathological condition where we can see uric acid crystals in urine.
Drink more water & stay hydrated is one of the best ways to treat the crystals themselves.

Cystine crystals

Actually cysteine mean type of amino acid & it can cause urine crystals.
These are present as hexogoniga plates & soluble in Hcl and NH3 .
Congenital cystinisis , congenital cystin urea are some pathological conditions whare they appear in urine.

Tyrosine crystals

They look like fine refractile needles which present as clusters.
Severe liver diseases and thyrosinosis like conditions gives rise to Tyrosine crystals in urine.

Calcium oxalate crystals

This is the most common type of crystals found in urine.
They have octahedral or envelope shape .
Also it appear as biconcave disks , which have dumble shape.
Envelope shape crystals call as – calcium oxalate monohydrate and dumble shape crystals call as calcium oxalate dyhydrate.

They are soluble in Hcl but not in acitic acid.
Calcium oxalate crystals can also seen in urine with neutral PH.
In diabetes mellitus & liver diseases the calcium oxalate crystals can be present in urine.
Not only that these can be seen after ingestion of tomato , Spanish , vitamin C and orange.

Calcium sulphate crystals

Calcium sulphate crystalas

They have long needle with sharp ends or prism shape plates.
The plate can be isolated or forming a rosette.
They are very rare & no clinical significance …

Sodium urates crystals

These are yellowish needles occur in clusters.
They do not have clinical significance.

Sodium urates crystals

Hippuric acid crystals

They occur as elongated prism or plates.
These are rarely seen in urine & not clinically important.

Amorphous urates crystals

These are granular urates of potassium, sodium, Mg, and Ca.
But they also do not clinically important.

Amorphous urates crystals

Leucine crystals

These crystals are spheroid with radial and concentric striations.. usually they are spherical and oily.they are soluble in warm alcohol and acidic solutions.we can see them in urine in severe hepatitis and Marple syrup disease.

Sulfa crystals

They are colourless or brown needle like crystals which are eccentrically bind to each other.sulfa crystals are soluble in acetone.

Cholesterol crystals

Cholesterol crystals are transparent large flat plates like structures with notched edges. We can see them in urine in nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, chyluria like pathological conditions.
